What is the purpose of the establishment of Al-Hijra Open University?

Al-Hijra Open University has been established with a vision to provide traditional Islamic education through digital means and modern techniques; to provide everyone with a better understanding of Islam.

Al-Hijra Open University provides such a platform for students of all ages and genders where they can read all the necessary subjects related to the Qur’an and Hadith from elementary to higher level in a phased manner without any particular time or place, directly from highly qualified teachers.

Which school of thought does Al-Hijra Open University follow?

Al-Hijra Open University does not belong to any particular school of thought or sect. It follows solely Qur’an and authentic Sunnah according to the understanding of the first three generations of Muslim scholars. It recognizes and holds in high regard the contributions of the great Imams to the development of Fiqh and benefits from all of them. It has been ensured that all the teachers adhere to the methods of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, Salaf al-Saliheen, and Al-Adillah al-Muttafiqah.

Who founded Al-Hijra Open University and when was it founded?

Al-Hijra Open University was launched by Shaykh Abdullah Nasir Rehmani in 2021.

Is Al-Hijra Open University registered?

Al-Hijra Open University is registered under the Society Registration Act 1861, in accordance with the laws of Pakistan. Efforts are underway to get affiliated with more domestic and foreign universities.

Where is Al-Hijra Open University based?

Al-Hijra Open University is an online university which means that it is accessible anywhere with a computer or mobile and an Internet connection. Al-Hijra Open University’s head office is based in Karachi, Pakistan but the entire study is conducted only on the Internet.

Where does the study take place?

Al-Hijra Open University is an online educational resource. The entire program is taught online via the Internet. Anybody from any part of the world can join easily and benefit from it, if one has access to a computer or mobile and an internet connection, In Sha Allah.

Is there any live interaction?

The courses are pre-recorded. We conduct weekly Zoom sessions on different subjects where the students can ask their teachers and have their queries resolved. Moreover, WhatsApp groups are active 24/7 to assist students in learning course material more deeply and concretely.

Currently, Al-Hijra Open University offers the following programs:

Aalim/Aalimah Course (traditionally known as Dars-e-Nizami)

Can the videos be watched offline/downloaded?

No. The videos are viewable online only.

What is the language of instruction at Al-Hijra Open University?

All courses are taught in Urdu. In addition to Urdu, English, and Arabic have also been used as auxiliary languages for the convenience of students.

Who can get admission?

Any student who knows how to speak and write Urdu can enroll at any time.

Any prior education or qualification before enrolling for the courses?

There is no prior education or qualification required.

Is there any restriction of age or gender to join the courses?

There is no age or gender restriction to join.

What is the duration of the Aalim/Aalimah Course?

Aalim/Aalimah Course is a 5-year course spread over 10 semesters.

Can a student enroll separately in a particular subject?

Students who do not wish to be included in the full curriculum may be enrolled separately in a particular subject.

Registrations are open all year round.

When will the course start and end?

Online Courses are self-paced. You may start and complete the course at your desired time and pace.

Does Al-Hijra Open University provide free education?

Al-Hijra Open University provides students with a high-quality education at very reasonable fees. We also offer scholarships to deserving students.

Do you have discounts or scholarships available?

Yes, discounts or scholarships are available for deserving students.

Do you charge local currency?

No. All payments will be charged in USD or PKR.

I purchased a course, how do I access it?

Course Material

Is there a separate fee for learning materials?

There is no fee charged for course materials, which consist of PDF files. We also provide an E-Library for students free of charge. If a student wishes to purchase hard copies of the required texts, they may do so from external sources.

Are e-books downloadable?

Yes!
