This course combines two crucial subjects, Nahw (Arabic Syntax) and Sarf (Arabic Morphology), to provide students with a strong foundational knowledge of Arabic grammar.
In Nahw, students will explore the Rules of Arabic Syntax as applied in the Qur’an, regular speech, and various texts. Topics include Nahw introduction, basic terminologies, word classifications, and the study of Nouns (definite, indefinite, masculine, feminine, singular, dual, and plural). Students will also learn about declinable and indeclinable words, and the detailed study of nominatives, accusatives, genitives, and appositives/followers.
Sarf focuses on the organizational structure of words. Students will learn Sarf introduction, important terminologies, categories of verbs, particles, detailed and abbreviated paradigms, and triliteral verbs. Topics also cover past, present, and future tenses, negative forms, imperatives, active and passive particles, and more.
